The Pulse of Balance – Summer 2022

Hello,

Look towards the sky, let the sun warm your face! Each breath a smile!

IN THIS ISSUE:
  • Tips, Tricks and Musings
  • Community spotlight
  • New and current courses
  • What’s coming!

Summer is cresting the hill as Yin wanes and Yang is moving into its strongest position of the year. As the spring has dethawed us, it is now time to start looking into the future and putting the plans we have nurtured throughout the winter into place. As the flowers and trees bloom, so do our hopes and ambitions, both professionally and personally. Take just a moment to gather yourself before stepping forward into action.

The warmer months bring with it outdoor activity and exploration. Look forward to more sprains and strains coming to you in clinic as people dust off their bikes and running shoes. What a wonderful opportunity to utilize the Balance System! Speaking of Balance, remember to remind your patients that while keeping cool is important, living in line with the Dao means we are meant to be a bit warm and that always hiding from the heat and being over exposed to A/C and cold foods will throw off our energies and douse our inner flame.

After a long 2 years of hiding away and concealing – this summer seems to be even more so an opportunity to reignite old passions and reclaim connections that might have suffered. Take the opportunity to follow up with old friends and reground yourself in community.

The summer season is the time for outward expression and growth, to the best of your comfort and ability try to allow yourself the space to grow into your potential.

Zai Jian 再见 (再見)!

See you in the HUB,

Tips, Tricks and Musing from the TAs

Keeping your feet on the ground

With the Summer bringing in the strongest yang energy, we might more so than usual find our energy become a bit flighty with a higher chance of getting pulled into our patients energies and spirals. If you work in the mental health space as I do, it is especially important to make sure you ground yourself in between and during sessions so as not to take on too much of your patients’ mental state.

I find keeping wood and metal in my office space, in a place that I can easily reach that I can touch and connect with, can do a great deal to help and anchor me to the present, deep controlled breathing will also help to control your nervous system, with the added benefit of giving your patient something to mimic and ground themselves on as well.
