~ Lead Teaching Assistant ~
Hi my name is Fion Chou. I have been practicing acupuncture since 2004. In 2018, I came across Balance System Acupuncture. Leading up to this for the better part of 15 years, I had practiced Japanese Meridian therapy. Though I had good results, it was love at first sight with Balance System Acupuncture! I was very grateful to be among Cohort 1 at Langara College and the Tan Academy of Balance Inc, taught by Dr. Sonia Tan. Nothing brings me more pride and joy when patients experience immediate results. I am honoured to be the official Lead Teaching Assistant of the Tan Academy of Balance Inc.

Hi! My name is Lisa. My professional background is in corporate and real estate sales, while my personal experience has deeply shaped my views on health care. While working on my Kinesiology degree, I became disheartened by the limitations of Western medicine. I decided to focus my energy in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at PCU College of Holistic Medicine, graduating in 2018. I furthered my studies at Langara College, graduating from the Balance System Acupuncture certificate program in 2019. My passion as a Balance System Acupuncturist stems from my own health and finding new ways to overcome them. I am a problem solver at heart and receive great satisfaction helping my patients overcome their health challenges.

Hi My name is Adam Slamang, I am one of the first graduates from Dr. Sonia Tan’s Balance System Acupuncture program at Langara college in Vancouver BC. I opened my acupuncture practice in 2020 in Charlottetown PEI. Starting my practice across the country during covid has definitely been an interesting experience. Outside of acupuncture I like to think of myself having an entrepreneurial spirit and am always thinking of business ideas to keep me busy and ways to incorporate acupuncture and Balance System into other aspects of my life. Some of my hobbies include writing, acting and spending time in the ocean.
Hi! My name is Kathy Dang and I practice medicine at Red Tree Wellness in Vancouver, BC. I received my Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from SCNM in Arizona in 2008 and a Master’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine at PCOM in Chicago in 2011. Currently I am the Chair of the Biomedicine Exam Development Committee for the national TCM boards in the US (NCCAOM). I became certified in Balance System Acupuncture (9-levels) from the Tan Academy of Balance in 2019. 100% of my practice is Balance acupuncture + herbology + ND medicine. I love the power of our medicine and the healing we see in our patients every day. I am happy to share my perspective and my experience!
